Producer
Sonic Acts is looking for a Producer for 0.8 FTE (30 hours approx.) per week. The deadline for applications is before 3 December and the position starts in early February 2025.
Sonic Acts is a leading platform for new developments in electronic and digital art and sound art. Along with a year-round programme, the organisation is notable for its Biennial, which takes place at a variety of locations in Amsterdam. Sonic Acts supports research, development and presentation of cutting-edge music, visual art, science, and technology in concerts, lectures, club music, film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, and more. Based in Amsterdam, Sonic Acts works with national and international artists, partners, and kindred cultural and academic institutions.
As a producer, you will be responsible for supervising the production and realisation of Sonic Acts' annual programmes and Biennial festival, which includes conferences, exhibitions, audiovisual performances, concerts, club nights, online events, newly commissioned artworks, workshops, and residencies. You will work closely with curators and technicians and maintain communication with artists, venues and suppliers. Furthermore, you manage the budgets and financial reports for these activities. The ideal candidate has an affinity with art and culture, especially audiovisual and contemporary art, avant-garde film, electronic music, or experimental media. We are looking for an ambitious person with demonstrable experience, especially in producing art exhibitions.
Supervising, executing and monitoring productions from start to finish, including planning, pre-production, in-situ realisation, and post-production.
Recruiting, coordinating and managing the production team for the relevant programmes, including technicians, support staff, assistants, and interns.
Budget management and monitoring financial arrangements: preparing budgets, keeping them up-to-date, and following up on settlement.
Researching venues for exhibitions, concerts, workshops, club nights, and film shoots, managing the agreements or collaborations with these venues.
Logistical organisation of travel, accommodation, and transport for artists and performers, along with their art and materials.
Coordination of catering and hospitality for events.
Evaluating the quality of production.
3 years of relevant work experience in a similar position.
A proactive, flexible, stress-resistant, and ambitious attitude.
The ability to work well as part of a team and to manage people effectively.
A sense of responsibility not limited to office hours.
Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
Living in or close to Amsterdam.
Affinity with contemporary art, audiovisual culture, avant-garde film and/or electronic music.
Basic knowledge of and experience with A/V technology is a plus.
Possession of a valid driving license B is also a plus.

A salary, depending on knowledge and experience, between €2,767 and €3,233 gross per month based on full-time employment (set according to De Zaak Nu guidelines). Freelancing is negotiable.
