Sonic Acts is a leading platform for new developments in electronic and digital art and sound art. Along with a year-round programme, the organisation is notable for its Biennial, which takes place at a variety of locations in Amsterdam. Sonic Acts supports research, development and presentation of cutting-edge music, visual art, science, and technology in concerts, lectures, club music, film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, and more. Based in Amsterdam, Sonic Acts works with national and international artists, partners, and kindred cultural and academic institutions. Job Description

For over 10 years, Sonic Acts has been developing educational projects specifically for youth. As the Education Project Manager, you will be responsible for the further development, coordination, and launch of Sonic Acts’ educational programmes. The role involves planning education projects, producing workshops and presentations, as well as managing budgets and admin reporting. You will work closely with curators, artists, and technicians, and maintain relationships with partners – such as educational institutions, art academies, youth organisations, and international partners – to develop innovative methodologies for informal learning in the field of sound and music. Your role is crucial in increasing the engagement of various target groups, who are children, young students or creators, and teachers, and in strengthening Sonic Acts as a platform for education.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and implementing various educational projects, mentorship programmes, and workshops.

  • Planning and producing community activities, for example open days, meet-ups, workshops, excursions, or listening sessions.

  • Maintaining and growing a network of cultural, educational, and academic contacts.

  • Developing and delivering teaching materials in collaboration with partner institutions.

  • Using management software and online tools to monitor activities, overseeing milestones, objectives, and overall progress.

  • Preparing and monitoring budgets, providing financial reports throughout the project.

  • Periodically reporting on quantitative and qualitative project results.

  • Actively contributing to fundraising efforts for educational projects.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of work experience in educational or cultural sectors.

  • Strong organisational skills, with experience planning and leading meetings, both online and in person.

  • Experience in project management, including budget and results reporting.

  • Interest in creating an inspiring and safe learning environment for all people involved.

  • Good communication and writing skills, in Dutch and English, with the ability to collaborate with an international team.

  • An affinity with educational target groups, such as children, teenagers, or young adults.

  • A willingness to travel to project locations in the Netherlands, Croatia, and Slovakia.

  • Interest in sound art, contemporary art, or art education is a plus.
